Shed your Husks

Shed your Husks

On the second Sunday of Advent, we typically meet John the Baptist… and this year is no exception. Rev. Cari preached this week on Matthew 3:1-12, a text that introduces John and his baptism of repentance as a “prelude” to Jesus.

She focussed on that message of “repentance” – metanoia in the Greek – which means “turn” or “change your heart and mind.” She then connected that change not to an act of will on our part, but to the work God is already doing in us, and spoke a bit more about Centering Prayer.

Then she reframed the somewhat intimidating reference to chaff burning in the “unquenchable fire.” And to see where that landed, you’ll just have to listen!
