Turning the Tables

Categories:

Today’s sermon was to be third in the series of explorations of Rev. Janet Gear’s Theological Banquet. Preaching on John 2:13-22, Rev. Cari was all set to engage with the congregation around the “ecumenical” stream of the banquet.

However, the tables were turned significantly in our world this past week, as the Coronavirus was declared a pandemic, so Rev. Cari shifted gears to reflect on that situation with the congregation.

Rev. Cari signals to the congregation with this sermon that Jesus, our “house of prayer” will be with us even if we do end up suspending “in-person” worship or other ministries. We will still find ways to fulfill our calling to “seek justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God.”
