What’s the difference between “comfort” and “salvation?”

What does Jesus say when my “comfort” gets in the way of someone else’s (or the whole world’s) salvation?

These are all questions that weave in this morning’s sermon from Rev. Cari for Lent 2, on John 3:1-17. This text is itself an account of a conversation – between Jesus, and Nicodemus, a privileged Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin, the ruling party of his day.

That the text is headed toward “salvation” is no surprise to anyone who has been to a football game (and seen John 3:16 in the bleachers). But the stops along the way may contain a surprise or two!
