For the second Sunday in our Stewardship Season (and also All Saints Sunday) Rev. Cari preached on the Beatitudes. She preached against the expectation that this text is somehow, like the 10 Commandments, “rules for living.” In fact, these descriptions of what “blessed” looks like are just that: descriptions of the way the world actually is.
The hidden (so often, from our sight) gift of the grace of God, which becomes apparent in the rear-view mirror, and which is the foundation of contentment (and therefore hope), is the focus of this sermon.
During the sermon, she shares some news from our ministry partner in Busia, Kenya, Betty Oduor. (For more information about the Mama Orphans Children’s Home please see the separate page in our Church Life drop-down menu, called “Ministry Partner”).
At the end of the sermon, she invites the congregation to name and remember saints (either living or already with God) who have lit the way for us.
