Rev. Cari’s sermon for the fourth Sunday in Advent, is on the Annunciation: Luke 1:26-38. She starts with a poem by Brian Andreas, called “Different Plans,” and identifies how it’s easy to relate to the sense that life has taken a turn to the unanticipated, these days.
Whatever plans Mary might have had for her own life, and whatever plans we might have had for ours, God is present… inviting us to bear Christ into the world. We are all invited to be God-bearers… not just Mary.
Rev. Cari suggests that it’s our bearing of compassion, empathy, and love, on this particular Christmas in 2020, that will make all the difference. How are you opening to love in a new way? How is tenderness growing in you? How is compassion rising? These things will make all the difference in our lives and in our world.
