Discernment, Struggle and Call

Discernment, Struggle and Call

Categories:

On this summer Sunday, the Rev. Cindy Terry joined the Crossroads congregation in worship leadership.

Her text is the story of Jacob wrestling by the river Jabbok in Genesis 32:22-31, and she uses that story of struggle and discernment to invite the congregation to reflect on their own stories of discernment. She introduces the “backstory” of the text, then transitions to open up her own call to ministry as an example of discernment.

Her invitation to the congregation is to attend to where God may be calling, and to pay attention to the seemingly small signals, gifts, and openings that are God’s way of leading us in our everyday lives.
