Delta Food Coalition


Delta Food Coalition (DFC) is providing coordination of food security initiatives, sharing information on available programs and needs, identifying available resources, and making connections between agencies and resources.

DFC in partnership with United Way can assist agencies with the following:

  • Access to screened volunteer drivers to assist with food delivery;
  • Delivery trucks/drivers: DFC can to connect you with trucks as needed, please contact DFC and let us know the dates/times, size truck and what the delivery is for;
  • PPE — DFC will be receiving a supply of PPE including masks, hand sanitizer and gloves for Delta agencies available May 8, 2020. Please let us know how much you require.

Don’t Mow, Grow Victory Garden Program


This program provides advice and a free starter kit of seeds and seedlings to home gardeners willing to donate a portion of their crops to DFC.


DFC will be distributing 400 harvest boxes of fresh food this year to member agencies or directly to families in need. Please email info@earthwisesociety.bc.ca to sign up.



Deltassist

  • Operating emergency food services for the North Delta Food Bank by providing gift cards for Superstore to those in need.
  • Offering a shop and drop program for seniors who are housebound.

Deltassist is taking on relief volunteers to help with food delivery programs for seniors during this time. Call 604-594-3455 or email inquiry@deltassist.com.



South Delta Food Bank


The South Delta Food Bank (SDFB) is operating normally — open Wednesday every week. Deliveries are possible for those who are unable to come in person. SDFB is able to accept large food donations on Tuesday mornings, please connect with DFC to arrange a donation.



Surrey Food Bank / North Delta Food Bank


Distributing food to North Delta every second Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Northside Community Church. You must be registered to receive a food hamper, but can register on site on Tuesdays.

Northside Community Church / Mamas for Mamas


“Baby Depot” accepting donations of formula, diapers, etc. and delivering items to families in need. Please contact 604-594-0522 or email community@wearenorthside.com.



Muslim Food Bank and Community Services Society


Muslim Food Bank and Community Services Society is:

  • Continuing regular food distribution;
  • Providing emergency food hampers to those who are not signed on clients;
  • Focusing on food with dietary restrictions (i.e. kosher, haalal, vegan, etc.) but support is available to anyone in need.

Sikh Awareness Foundation


The Sikh Awareness Foundation is providing a meal delivery service throughout Delta with food cooked at an Indian restaurant to single mothers, seniors and those affected by domestic violence. Please contact (604) 572-5577 for more information.



Earthwise Society


Earthwise Society is offering free vegetable seedlings for community gardens. Please reserve by May 15, 2020.


Garden Buddies Program: reaching out to seniors with phone calls. Providing free planters with herbs, flowers or veggie seedlings.

OPTIONS / Delta Club House


Offering temporary grocery shopping and food delivery to supported housing, clubhouse clients, and individuals experiencing mental illness. Program referral required. Please contact 604-375-7773 or email preetika.royal@options.bc.ca for more information.



Nourishing Neighbours


Seniors Meal Delivery Program is available to residents of Delta who are members of KinVillage Community Centre, Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre, or McKee Seniors Recreation Centre.


This program operates Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Seniors Centre members are invited to place a weekly order for hearty entrees, soups, and desserts. Payment can be made by credit card or monthly invoice.

Young Mums Group


Young mothers aged 25 and under can access this support group. This program is offered on Thursdays (currently offered virtually). Donations of formula, diapers, etc. are sometimes available and lunch is provided at the in-person meetings.
