For the first Sunday in Advent, Rev. Cari focussed in on the words of the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 64:1-9. She also responded to a request that she talk a bit about “silence” – her recent sabbatical experience of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
This advent our theme is a four posture prayer attributed to the medieval anchoress and spiritual giant Julian of Norwich. The first posture is Await.
This sermon is Rev. Cari’s testimony about the value of slowing down in a time when our culture is speeding up, in order to attune to God’s movement in our lives and in our world. God’s grace is everywhere. We’re just moving so fast, ourselves, that we don’t perceive it.
