With this sermon, Rev. Cari introduces a new 6 week sermon series on the Lord’s Prayer. Today she is preaching from Romans 8:14-27 and Matthew 6:5-15 (which is Matthew’s setting of the Prayer of Jesus).
In introducing the series to come, which will follow the prayer, line by line, Rev. Cari mentions the two sources she will be drawing from, John Dominic Crossan’s The Greatest Prayer and Will Willimon & Stan Hauerwas’ Lord, Teach Us: The Lord’s Prayer and the Christian Life.
The prayer of Jesus is both a glorious articulation of hope for the whole creation, as well as a marker of the “oddness” that is Christian discipleship. Listen as Rev. Cari lays out themes that will be at play over the next 5 following weeks.
