Sermons

Sabbath Rest

The first “Stump the Preacher” sermon of the summer of 2016. Rev. Cari preached on Exodus 20:8-11, Deuteronomy 5:12-15, and Luke 13:10-17.

Elijah up the Mountain

This sermon in three “segments” was created and shared by our youth after two months of study on this text: I Kings 19:1-15. You’ll hear many different voices, and you’ll miss a bit of the visual impact of seeing “Elijah” asleep in an easy chair then up on a ladder (the mountain) but hopefully…

Seeing Like Jesus

This sermon for the 4th Sunday after Pentecost was preached by Rev. Cari on Luke 7:36-8:3. Many thanks to the Rev. Dr. Keith Howard for permission to “borrow” his story about his granddaughter Grace for the opening of the sermon.

Saying Sorry – Living the Apology

This sermon was preached on the day Crossroads acknowledged the 30th anniversary of the Apology of the United Church of Canada to First Nations Peoples. Early in the service, we participated in a Litany remembering the history of how the Apology came to be offered, then Rev. Cari preached on Galatians 1:11-24.

Say Uncle!

Rev. Cari preaching on I Kings 18:20-39 and Luke 7:1-10, with thanks to Eugene Peterson for the story about his first convert.

Scattered and Poured

This Pentecost Sunday sermon focussed on both Genesis 11 (the story of the Tower of Babel) and Acts 2:1-21 (the day of Pentecost). Rev. Cari is preaching.

Sing Gift of Peace

Guest preacher Dr. Fred Graham, here at Crossroads with the “Music Matters” event hosted by Music United preaching on John 14:23-29.
