As we celebrated 20+ years of KidVenture ministry this Sunday, Eileen told the story of us each “Receiving our Light”: During the recording there are some periods of silence. Here is a brief description of the physical story to help listeners visualize the action:

A large candle is placed in a semicircle of smaller candles. Initially the large candle, the Light, is lit with the words “I am the light”. And then the smaller candles are lit one by one, first for those gathered in the circle, “——, this is your light”, and then for the gathered community, “this is your light”. There is silence as each small candle is lit. To close the story, the candles are extiinguished one by one, with the words “the light that was in this time and this place can be with us in all times and all places”. The snuffer is slowly raised from each candle to allow the candle smoke to disperse widely. Finally the large candle, the Light, is extinguished.
