Most weeks, our worship leader offers a 15–20 minute sermon based on the Scripture texts for the day.
Our regular preacher is pretty versatile. She’ll tell stories, pull together different ideas, lead a meditation, give the congregation an “assignment” to talk about in twos or threes, show a slide show or video, or sometimes even sing to the congregation. The sermon functions to deepen our reflection on the Scripture themes of the day, and often leaves us with a challenge or a question.
Scripture texts are outlined in the Revised Common Lectionary.
Recognizing the Voice of Love
A sermon from Rev. Cari on the Baptism of Jesus as found in Luke 3:21-22 and Isaiah 43:1-7. Thanks to Glennon Doyle Melton, “recovering everything” and evangelist who blogs at http://momastery.com/blog/.
The Other Wise Man
A story for all ages, originally written in 1898 by Henry Van Dyke and retold by Rev. Cari on this Epiphany Sunday at Crossroads.
On the Third Day of Christmas
Dr. Bruce Harding led worship and offered this reflection on the Sunday following Christmas.
Detours to Reverence
The Christmas Eve sermon at our “late” service focussed this year on Luke 2:1-14.
Mary and Elizabeth
This chancel drama was offered in combination with the reading of Luke 1:39-55. Our dramatists were aiming into microphones, but our apologies if they are a bit hard to hear at some points.
John Jesus and Sinatra
Rev. Cari’s sermon on Luke 3 for the third Sunday of Advent. How does Sinatra come into it? You’ll just have to listen to find out….
