North Delta Refugee Project Update

Categories: Church,Events,News,Principles,Stories

The North Delta Refugee Project (NDRP), created in November of 2015, is a joint initiative by members of four local churches.

The first priority of the NDRP was to sponsor a Syrian family. We have also done a substantial amount of work with government assisted refugees living in our area.
Our sponsored family arrived in March of 2018, and are doing remarkably well. The father has gained valuable Canadian work experience over the summer as a survey technician, and is taking a course at BCIT to work toward Canadian certification. The mother is taking English courses at Kwantlen in preparation for undertaking training to become a special education assistant or SEA. The kids enjoyed a quiet summer, and are now happy to be back at school. The whole family are very grateful to be in Canada, and are working very hard to make a life for themselves in their new home. We admire their joy, their work ethic, and their faith in God. We have been blessed by such a positive and beautiful sponsorship experience.
The North Delta Refugee Project Steering Committee is very thankful for the support and generosity that the four supporting congregations, as well as members of the community at large, have given us on our journey. With God’s help, together we have accomplished a lot.
Thank you!
