You Who…

You Who…

Categories:

On this 6th Sunday after Epiphany, Rev. Cari unpacked Luke’s version of The Beatitudes (found at Luke 6:17-26) which she renamed the “you who’s.”

She began with the assertion (borrowed from Robert Reich) that greatness is a moral category, and that power is more than just being able to compel other people to do what you want. Then she jumped into the text.

There is a hidden gem in here, right as she makes the turn from the You Who’s to a more practical consideration of how to maintain one’s focus and balance in a time of overwhelm, uncertainty, and worry. (You’ll just have to listen for it… here’s a hint: it’s a Mary Poppins reference and the congregation applauds it.)

She closes the sermon by sharing Diana Butler Bass’ “10 W’s” which are Diana’s answer to the question, “What are we going to do?” and her suggested 10 best ways to remain grounded, sane, and hopeful in these days.
