Today Rev. Cari picked up from Luke’s Gospel right where she left off last Sunday. The text was another parable, that of the Pharisee & tax collector, at Luke 18:9-16.
The thing about parables is that they tend to shake us up a bit… so Rev. Cari told a story on herself, to begin this sermon, and invited the congregation to also consider where the earthquake that is Jesus’ life, death and (especially today) teaching has shaken their self-identity.
Along the way she did share a bit about both Pharisees and tax collectors, and she also quoted from Fr. Richard Rohr about the purpose of religion (or the spiritual life). Have a listen… but be prepared for the ground to shift under your own feet!
