Not Ashamed to Hope

Not Ashamed to Hope

Categories:

After preaching for two weeks in the prophet Jeremiah, Rev. Cari turns to the Christian Scriptures, to the first verses of 2 Timothy. Today’s text offers another opportunity to remember what keeps us going in tough times, and to set our hope in God.

She explores the function of memory – putting things together that have become separated, or fallen apart – and she also takes a moment to speak about shame. Quoting the work of Brene Brown, Rev. Cari reminds herself (and the congregation) of the difference between guilt and shame, on our journey of healing.

She also refers to the new Mission Statements of The United Church of Canada: “Deep Spirituality. Bold Discipleship. Daring Justice.” Just how she puts together all that boldness and Paul’s reference to shame is yours to discover, when you listen to the recording!
