“Let Now”

“Let Now”

Categories:

Today was the Sunday in which we remember the Baptism of Jesus, and so remember our own baptism. This morning, Rev. Cari preached on Matthew 3:13-17 – Matthew’s take on the events of that day.

Of course, the relationship between Jesus and John the Baptist, and their roles and relative “status” in the tradition was part of the picture, especially because of the “tussle” between them featured in the story. As Rev. Cari points out, it’s not “proper” for a human to baptize God-with-us, which John well knows.

But it’s Jesus’ two word response: “Let now” which feels like a touchstone, not just for John, but for us as well. Listen to hear more.
