The sermon for the second Sunday in Advent was in response to both Romans 15:4-13, and the state of the world in the week leading up to the day it was preached. Rev. Cari didn’t quite have the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other (as theologian Karl Barth encouraged preachers to do) but she certainly attended seriously to both, all the while raising up the vocation of the church in the midst of the season of Advent.
