On the fifth Sunday after Epiphany, Rev. Cari preached on the Hebrew Bible text, a passage from the prophet Isaiah, which picks up mid-argument… from Isaiah 40:21-31. She gives some context, then opens up the “meat” of the passage: what it means to “wait for Our God.”
Along the way she brings out a few nuggets of wisdom from Father Richard Rohr, and also refers to a poem written by the African-American poet Marilyn Nelson, “The contemplative life.”
As she says, “The whole sense of this text is to bring us to the conviction that turning to anything or anyone other than Our God is worse than useless. Even when it looks like God is doing nothing.” Intrigued? Have a listen.
