HOURS: Currently, 1-2 days/week (approx. 42 hours/month)

WAGE: $22-25/hour



Summary of Duties

Working independently, under the guidance of the Crossroads United Church Treasurer, in coordination with other staffand volunteers, and under the supervision of the Lead Minister:

  • Transaction processing: Process incoming and outgoing transactions, including donations, bills, and payroll. Ensure all transactions are recorded promptly and accurately.
  • General ledger and account management: Maintain a balanced general ledger and financial records for the church.
  • Financial reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports for the finance and stewardship team.
  • Banking: Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Payroll reporting: Oversee the payroll process for church staff, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to our payroll service provider.
  • Charitable income tax receipts. Process and maintain accurate donor reports in PowerChurch, and ensure timely issuance of annual charitable receipts to donors for income tax purposes.


Gifts and Abilities

  • Bookkeeping experience, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Experience with accounting software (familiarity with PowerChurch an asset).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 software including Word and Excel
  • Comfortable working amongst volunteers and paid staff.
  • Friendly and welcoming to others, comfortable with diversity.
