Are you feeling the heaviness of all the losses over this past couple of years?
Or maybe feeling burnt out and not sure what next steps might look like? Or needing confirmation you’re not alone in feeling this?
These last few years have been full of change, and so, full of losses. There are many types of loss and expressions of grief. We’ve all been in it.
Grief is a natural response to loss, and takes many shapes in our lives. You’ve probably been grieving even if you’re not aware of it… grieving takes a lot of energy when we try to do it on our own.
During the month of March, in the Christian season of Lent, Crossroads United Church is offering a four session series on Loss and Grief, for anyone who is seeking:
· A path forward through the “valley of the shadow” of loss
· Gentle Christian spiritual support that respects their perspective
· Community connection in the midst of the “new normal”
· A way to understand how grief has impacted them
WHEN?
Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm on March 1, 8, 22 and 29 (yes, there will be a “pause” on the 15th).
WHERE?
Starting on Zoom and possibly moving to in-person at Crossroads for the last two sessions depending on the will of the group.
WITH WHOM?
Anyone (including people that don’t identify as Christian) in the local community who needs support around any form of grief or loss is welcome. The sessions will be co-facilitated by Rev. Cari Copeman-Haynes, the Lead Minister of Crossroads, and Dr. Samantha McGee, a therapist and member of the congregation.
WHAT?
Our time together will include integration of psychoeducation and experiential practices that combine both psychology and Christian spiritual guidance. Each session will build upon the previous one(s), so it is best if you can commit to all four weeks, but not absolutely necessary.
WHY?
Because your story matters. Because community strengthens us all. Because God cares about you and your whole being (yes, even and especially your mental, emotional and spiritual health). Because you don’t have to face your losses all by yourself.
