“Following Jesus and the call to Social Justice”
“Take Your Faith Outside”
Rev. Cari will preach on Matthew 12:1-8 and Jesus’ words about his position vis-a-vis his own tradition: “Something greater than the Temple is here.” We live in a multi-faith world, and in fact there are many different visions of Jesus in both secular society, within the Christian tradition, and in other religious traditions. How do we “see” Jesus?
During worship, we will be joined by a group from the Muslim Community (sponsored by the Bridging Gaps Foundation, Islam Unravelled, the Muslim Care Centre, and the Masjid Al Salaam) who will host an interactive display in the our Multi-Purpose Hall following worship, called “Jesus in Islam: Man, Messenger, Messiah.” This display and dialogue opportunity is part of a province-wide effort (as stated by the organizers) “to create a platform of unity between our faiths in the face of growing stigma around Islam and Islamophobia.”
Children, aged 4 to 11, will focus on Indigenous understandings and practices.
This five-week sermon series runs from January 19 – February 16, 2020.
