About the Artist
Caribbean-Canadian Judy Beach of Surrey was born in Trinidad. At an early age Judy acquired the artistic ability of her mother, Marj Mottley. It was not until later in her life that she really focused on her artistic gift.
Judy’s love for gardening and the outdoors is what motivates and inspires her and this is reflected in her art. As a product of two cultures, Judy’s art captures the best of both. She captures the majesty of the Rocky Mountains or the variety of exotic and beautiful flowers found in Canadian nature. She also brings the brilliant and glorious colours of the Caribbean alive in her work. Childhood memories of home are reflected in the animals, fruit, and vegetables displayed in her paintings. The West Indian images give some insight into perspectives in the tropics.
Judy paints in both oil and watercolour to create images of the things that most motivate and inspire her.
