Palm SundaySunday, April 14, 2019
We worship as all ages together today. Our service will focus on the story of Palm Sunday as found in Luke’s Gospel (where there are no palms mentioned!). We will act out the story, including the finding of a “colt” for Jesus to ride as he enters Jerusalem. We continue to Walk Jesus’ Way toward the cross as Holy Week begins. All are welcome!
Maundy ThursdayThursday, April 18, 2019
All ages in the congregation are invited to join together in community for worship as we explore Jesus’ invitations to his disciples to love and serve one another and the world. Our Maundy Thursday observance will include both foot (or hand) washing and the sacrament of Holy Communion.
Good FridayFriday, April 19, 2019
This joint service with the Sur-Del cluster United Church congregations will take place at Crossroads. During this service we experience the Passion of Jesus together, and “stay awake” with him through the suffering and injustice of the world. A special offering will be received for the work of the Oak Avenue Neighbourhood Hub. Refreshments will be served before the service at 10:00 a.m. and we will depart in silence at the close of the worship service.
Easter VigilSaturday, April 20, 2019
Join others in the Crossroads community for this deeply moving traditional service on the “eve” of Easter. We will begin worship outside (weather permitting) on the Crossroads patio, where we will light the “new fire” and listen for the Word of God (through several readings from both Testaments). Then we will pass the Light of Christ to one another as we process into the sanctuary. There, new members will be welcomed in the sacrament of Baptism and all will feast together at Christ’s table in the sacrament of Holy Communion. This service is very appropriate for all ages as there is lots of movement and different activities. All are welcome! (Please dress warmly for the beginning of this service.)
Easter Sunday WorshipSunday, April 21, 2019
We celebrate the power of love that triumphs over death on this Easter morning, with special music, prayer, and a sermon on Luke’s resurrection account (for grown-ups), and with a “Walk Through Holy Week” experience (in the hall for our children and youth). Our whole community will experience a celebration of God’s love, which is stronger than death. The children and youth will return to the sanctuary later in the service, so that we can all celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion together. All are welcome.
